To Whomever Invented Black Friday: WHY?

The common advice in our business circles…

“People are looking for deals on Black Friday / Cyber Monday. You’ve got to make an offer. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose!”

Sure.

Nothing to lose except, maybe, 3 months of strategizing, planning, plotting, writing, editing, scheduling, re-strategizing, pricing, sleep, social life, sanity, sex… (despite following every g’damn step in the “foolproof” Black Friday handbook with little to show for it.)

Of course these types of promos work for some businesses.

And to those who love it and make a buncha mooola, I’m happy for you!

I’m not salty about your success.

But it’s not for all of us.

I know I’m not the ONLY business owner out there who cringes at the thought of launches.

So… if you fall into the “not for me” camp, it’s okay to create alternatives to the Bro’ Marketing tactics of offering a Black Friday / Cyber Monday / Taco Tuesday-like promo.

Do you.
